ParticipantI am using Weaver Xtreme 1.2.4 on a new WordPress site that will replace an existing HTML site at the same URL. My goal is to emulate the HTML site’s vertical left menu.
I’ve created a “custom_menu” and styled it, but I can’t figure out how to make that show up in the sidebar.
I added a Custom Menu widget to the sidebar, and selected “custom_menu” to display. The “styled” version of custom_menu shows up under the header, while a second text-only version of the same menu shows up in the sidebar. See http://www.acglaconference.com/wednesday/ . (It is intended to replace http://www.acglaconference.com/wednesday.htm.)
I’d appreciate any help on how to display custom_menu, with styling, in the sidebar, AND stop it from displaying under the header image. Thanks!June 16, 2015 at 03:25 UTC - Views: 8 #22786Weaver
KeymasterShowing a menu in the sidebar is a feature of Weaver Xtreme Plus. There is a widget that will generate a nice vertical menu based on the styling for your primary, secondary, or extra menu. What is nice is that you can then select the option to put the primary sidebar area above the content on the mobile view, and your visitors will get the menu on the side on desktops, but still present at the top on mobile devices.
But this is not available on the free version.

ModeratorIf you are adding a menu in the sidebar, you need to hide the primary menu on desktop by using the “hide Area” Drop down list option found in Main Options > Menus > Primary menu bar options.
If you don’t have Plus, the menu widget has basically no styling and you would have to do all that job manually with Custom CSS. Some info is available about that in the first item of the thread below

As weaver mentionned, all that would be a lot easier with “Plus” which has a fully styled Menu widget

ParticipantWithout buying the Plus version of WeaverX (my site is completely non-com), I do mine as “Custom Menu” widgets in the sidebar.
Will this work for you?

Looking at your site, http://www.acglaconference.com/wednesday/ it seems you just need to hide the main menu and add some formatting to your sidebar and sidebar menu widget.
Hope this helps.

ParticipantWeaver, Scramber and Bob — thank you all. I’d forgotten about the Plus widget, and will pick that up.
I appreciate the help! -
