Long story short, I went with a website builder and host and it started out great for a couple of years, but their support staff has been reduced as CS is slow and a bit testy.

So I’m back with SiteGround and my site is still okay, but I’m betting they’ll pull the plug on me for using “their” themes, and I want to be ready.

I’m starting from scratch now.

1. I’ll need to repurchase the theme, correct?
2. I’ll need a dummy site to play with, suggestions?
3. I used Weaver Extreme, should I still use this? Is there a newer version of Weaver I should look at?

Still here and up to date with the latest WP  and PHP…

1  The Xtreme theme is free, unless you need certain customizations, in which case the paid Plus Plugin is recommended.  You may submit any questions about renewing or reactivating an old Plus purchase here: https://weavertheme.com/support/contact/

2. You can download and install XAMPP onto your PC and then load WP and Xtreme on that.  All free…  An XAMPP local site will allow you to fully develop and test your site, before copying it across to a live site.

3. The Weaver Xtreme theme V6.7 is the latest and is available with the associated Weaver plugins from WP.

The Xtreme Them is free as is its Xtreme Theme Support Plugin.

There is an Optional Xtreme Plus Plugin that you can add if you need some advance customization features.

So you can start with Xtreme and the theme support plugin, and if / when you hit the need for a feature that is part of the Plus plugin, then you can buy / add that.
