ParticipantHello,
the above described function don´t work. I filled in a phrase, but it only shows the [CLICK TO READ MORE] …
Where could the mistake be?
Thanks,

ModeratorPlease be more specific an provide a link to your site
If you are not using a weaver theme, and are using “”Continue Reading…” message for excerpts.” box in the show posts filter option page, try checking the box “Disable automatic post display integration with Weaver II/Aspen/Weaver Xtreme Themes.” at the top of the option page

ModeratorIf I put a text in The Filter page option “”Continue Reading…” message for excerpts.” box and if I do NOT check “Disable automatic post display integration with Weaver II/Aspen/Weaver Xtreme Themes.” at the top of the option page
I get my text as the continue reading message in the sidebar show posts shortcode, so I am not sure what you may be doing wrong.
What text did you put in the option box?August 22, 2016 at 19:42 UTC - Views: 5 #30453Realbilly

ModeratorWell…
Right now it says [CLICK TO READ MORE]This is NOT a message from the theme, So did you enter that message at one point? if so, you may be having a cache problem, and it is not reflecting your changes.
Clear ALL caches (especially plugin or service like Cloud fare if used).
Given this is not a theme message, are you using a child theme, or may be a plugin is interfering. Deactivate ALL non Weaver plugin to test.August 22, 2016 at 22:56 UTC - Views: 6 #30455Realbilly
ParticipantI use a weaver-child-theme. But there is no [LICK TO READ MORE].
Deactivating all non-weaver plugins shows the [CLICK TO READ MORE] again. How can I clear the cache? (I tried different browser, so the browser-cache cannot be the problem and I don´t use any cache-plugin for wp.August 22, 2016 at 23:01 UTC - Views: 6 #30456scrambler
ModeratorYou did not answer my questions…
Did you enter that text at one point?
Do you use a Cache plugin or a Cache service like CLoud fare?@weaver, is there a way to know where the [CLICK TO READ MORE] in the excerpt in the sidebar (show_posts shortcode) comes from ?

KeymasterThe answer: You started with the sample child theme, and didn’t fully understand the example. The CLICK TO READ MORE is found in the sample functions.php file in the example child theme. You need to delete it from there as it overrides any other continue reading message.

ParticipantI am blushing.
Yes, yes and yes. You are right. I didn´t read carefully and this was the solution. Thank you both so much. -
