ParticipantHey guys, so I wasn’t really thinking and I updated my plugins and themes the other day… but I’m still on WP 4.6.3 and my host is troubleshooting some issues that we’re having in upgrading WP to 4.7.2 on my multi-site network – so I can’t do a WP upgrade right now. Well, it turns out that this is causing a problem with the Weaver Xtreme Theme Support plugin… basically it’s removing my visual editor from Pages only (posts are fine) and it’s turning the text in the editor to white on a white background, also, none of the weaver per page settings will save. I’ve run some troubleshooting and it’s definitely the Weaver Xtreme Theme Support plugin – deactivate that and everything is good, reactivate it and the pages are broken again. It doesn’t affect the front end of the site, but I can’t create or edit pages right now, which presents a problem with my current project.
So my question is, can anything be done about this? I’m guessing it’s because I updated the plugins and theme before I updated to WP 4.7.2, so the WP update will likely fix it eventually. But is this plugin critical to the general functioning of the Weaver Xtreme Plus theme? Or could I maybe just disable it while I build my pages and then re-enable it after. At least until we manage to get the WP upgrade done?
Thanks a bunch! 🙂

ParticipantWell I answered my own question on how critical the plugin is lol… very. I don’t get any per page options without it – but plugin version 3.1 doesn’t work with WP version 4.6.3… So am I just kinda stuck until I can get my WP version updated?

ModeratorI am surprised the missing wordpress update could cause the theme support plugin not to save options…
Are you sure you have all the matching versions of the Xtreme Theme (3.1.1), the XTreme theme support plugin (3.1)

ParticipantYup 3.1.1 and 3.1 versions on those. And honestly it was something that just happened after doing the updates. Plus my host, WP Engine, are having troubles doing the WP update to 4.7.2, every time we do it we end up getting locked out with a message saying that we don’t have permissions. So something weird is going on. But in the meantime I’m trying to setup pages for a 3-day challenge that’s happening next week and it’s proving to be somewhat difficult lol. I’ve almost managed to get what I need put together, but so far I haven’t been able to find a universal setting to hide page titles (since I can’t use the per page setting to do it). Everything else I’ve been able to find a work around for lol.
I’ll give that input vars thing a try too, I didn’t before because everything was working fine, but it’s worth a try.

ModeratorMay be your site was hacked, and the issue is not the wordpress version, but the hack.
if so, some info here on how to deal with it

ParticipantWell darn it, that didn’t fix the problem either.

ParticipantI don’t really think that’s the problem, my site is monitored by sucuri 24/7 and like I said deactivating that one specific plugin fixes the problem but the them can’t function without that plugin. So it’s more likely some kind of conflict that’s surfaced since I did the plugin/theme updates the other day.

ModeratorHave you tried switching to a different theme, deleting all weaver Theme and plugins, then reinstall Xtreme and Xtreme theme support back from scratch.
All settings are in the database, so they will survive the operation. That said, download a backup before for safe keepingFebruary 4, 2017 at 05:07 UTC - Views: 20 #33113tanyathib
ParticipantThis feels like an extreme step to me and in the past with smaller sites I’ve done similar types of things and it’s taken me days to get things back the way they should be. My current multi-site network is quite big and I really don’t have the resources available to me if the above suggestion sends things sideways on me. So I’m currently waiting for WP Engine to troubleshoot the problem with the WP update to see if by chance that resolves the conflict with the Weaver plugin (fingers crossed). If it doesn’t then I guess I’ll have no choice but to give your suggestion a try unless @weaver has any thoughts on it?
As a sidenote, I have 17 sites within my multi-site network and only the ones that are using the Weaver Xtreme Plus theme are experiencing this issue. I do have other sites using different themes and they function fine.

KeymasterThere have been problems with WP Engine in the past, and there are known cases where Weaver Xtreme is simply not compatible with that hosting company. Sorry to say, you may be out of luck.

ParticipantInteresting, that does really surprise me. I’ve been using WP Engine for as long as I’ve been using Weaver and never had problems before and I’ve been using Weaver Xtreme Plus for several months now, also with no problem, until this last Weaver update. I’ll see what their support team come up with. Certainly will be disappointing if I’m no longer able to use Weaver Xtreme since I bought it and I’ve always been thrilled with the functionality of it.

ParticipantI’m having the same issue. I just switched hosts and updated my multi/network site to 4.7.1. One of my sites updated to 4.7.1. The other one is stuck at 4.6.2. The visual editor toolbar for the 4.7.1 site seems to be working. Hmm. I’ve escalated my ticket with my host to get the update working. I hope that solves the issue for my second site.

KeymasterPlease see: https://forum.weavertheme.com/discussion/14961/options-not-saving-new-possible-limit-for-max-input-vars
This may be the issue.

ParticipantUpdating to WordPress 4.7.2 seemed to resolve the issue for me. I was unable to update WordPress on my previous host, I’m not sure why. After moving to a new host I was able to update to 4.7.2 and the visual editor toolbar came back.
