ModeratorHello,
it’s been a long time since I used the Weaver Show Posts & Show Sliders plugin (both plugins Version 1.5.1 ).
I thought I give it a try again, but I cannot make it work while following the “Create an Image Slide Show using WordPress Media Gallery”.
I’m using a WP site in a WP network version 5.5.3. As per the quick guide, I created a Weaver Slider Post and placed a media library via Gutenberg into the post and published it.After that, I switched to the Weaver Posts & Slider Options plugin. I skipped the “Filters” tab, went directly to “Sliders” and at the Slider Options, I just changed to no paging and added the Slider Post Slug.
I created a page and added a Shortcode block with the [show_slider name=myimages] in it. I published the page but there is nothing being displayed.
Currently, I’m using a child theme based on the Genesis Framework, but I want to use a different theme, and preparing/testing a slider on a page is one of the preparations/tests I need before to move away from that theme.
My question now is the Weaver Slider plugin compatible with the WP network (I followed the instructions by activating the posts plugin first then the slider) and Genesis based themes?
https://www.sensorgrafie.de/slider-test/ is the site in question.
And I can see the code on the page:
<!-- Weaver Slider --> <script type="text/javascript">jQuery(window).ready(function() { jQuery("#atwkslider-hintergrundbilder-1").flexslider({namespace: "atwk-", selector:".slides > .atwk-slide",animation:"slide",controlNav:false,smoothHeight:false,pausePlay:false,slideshow:true,animationLoop:true,directionNav:false,easing:"swing",reverse:false,randomize:false,mousewheel:false,pauseOnHover:true,pausePlay:false,pauseOnAction:true,slideshowSpeed:5000,start: function(){}}); });</script>
Any idea?
Many thanks!
Cheers

ModeratorOK, So I wanted to try and create a slider post with the block editor, and when I create a New Slider post, I only get the classic editor (I have deactivated my classic editor plugin)…
How did you get the block editor in slider posts?

ModeratorOh, sorry, the Slider Post is classic.
The WP page where the weaver slider shortcode goes had the Gutenberg block editor.December 2, 2020 at 22:17 UTC - Views: 61 #66277scrambler
ModeratorWhat block did you use to insert the shortcode?
December 2, 2020 at 22:24 UTC - Views: 63 #66278scrambler
ModeratorWell, if I use a paragraph block to insert the Shoowslider shortcode it does not work, but If I use the classic editor for the page where I insert the Showslider shortcode, then it does work.
So it seems weaver shortcode may not work in all (or any?) block. May be @weaver can confirm if Showslider shortcode are supposed to work in any block or only in some.

ModeratorHello scrambler,
many thanks for confirming the issue. I’m using the dedicated WP Shortcode block to place the weaver slider shortcode.
As Gutenberg offers a “classic” block, I also tried to use this block on the WP page and added the WP Slider Shortcode here, but with the same result – no slider is showing.

KeymasterDid you try the shortcode block?
It works if I use the Block Editor Shortcode block.
Actually, I can get the show_slider short code to work in a Paragraph block, a Classic block, or the Shortcode block.

KeymasterAh – I see that when creating a Slider post from the “Weaver Slider Posts” menu, it will only show the Classic Editor. I’ve never thought about that before. It seems it is possible to have custom posts support the block editor. I will see what happens if I add that support to Show Sliders.

Moderator@Weaver as written I tried to use the slider shortcode at the Block Editor Shortcode block and classic block but it will not work for me on my site: https://www.sensorgrafie.de/slider-test/

Moderator@weaver, below is a link to a test page where I inserted the same shortcode, first in a paragraph block, then in a shortcode block.
TESTS – Test Site (nicolatrwst.com)
The first in the paragraph block does not work, the second does.
So given you get it to work in both, and Joerg does not get it to work in either, there must be something going up with that…

KeymasterSo, at this point it is not really feasible to use the block editor to create Show Slider posts. For example, the plugin knows how to pick out a gallery created in the classic editor, but the block editor creates completely different HTML that would take a major revision to make the slider auto-recognize the gallery image. That is really beyond the level of support I can provide now.
Weaver Show Sliders was cutting edge when it was created, but I think there are better options these days. I see there are several block slider plugins available. Haven’t tried any, but for anyone who has converted to the block editor, they would likely be a better choice than Weaver Show Sliders.

Moderator@Weaver many thanks, I’ll look for a different approach then.

Moderator@joerg
Have you tried installing the classic editor plugin, and using the classic editor on the page with the slider?

Moderator@scrambler no I did not. I found a nice slider now that can do all I need. https://transitionslider.com there is a free version at the WP reository that includes all I need.

ModeratorThank you for letting us know. Does it do post sliding?

ModeratorNo currently it is not offering posts as slides.
