Weaver Show Posts missing order criteria?

Hi,

at the weaver slider posts I do have an attribute called order, I don’t know if this is by default or if it comes with one of the plugins I use.

I miss the attribute order to be used in the filter and the shortcode …  [show_posts post_type=atw_slider_post atw_slider_group=parallax order=ASC orderby= ]

So my question, is the “Attribute” “Order” coming from the Weaver plugins or a third party plugin – if from Weaver why is there no option to make use of it?

@scrambler yes exactly where I miss the option to use the “Attribute Order” of the posts – the drop down list does not offer it!

I do not understand what you call and Attribute order, so it must be coming from a plugin, and therefore it is unlikely you could use that to order posts in the Show post plugin.

Weaver is away for now so he probably wont be able to comment.

You could probably use the  Custom WP_Query Args (Advanced Option) at the bottom of the filter options, but that will require to figure out the code

Well on my “Edit Page” for any “Page” I do have a widget that is titled “Attribute” features in this section are assigning a page template or make it a child page to another page, herein I also have an option called “Order” where I can give a number to sort the pages amongst each other…

Of course the Weaver Slider Posts only show the “Order” at the Page Attribute section as they can’t be nested…

OK, I do see it now, never noticed before…

Have you tried to select “No order” in the show post filter, and then ascending or descending, and see it that would follow the attribute order

@scrambler yes I did, I had the same idea here, but it did not followed the weight of the number that I placed at the “Order” field of each post … but it would be great, as with that, you would have the total control over the posts order.

This is a question for weaver then, but he is away right now so you will have to be patient.

@weaver, there is an attribute box in post editing page where you can put an order number (like pages). Is there a way (or could you add it) to use that order in the Post ordering filter of a page with posts and of a Show Post shortcode?

That image is for a Page. As far as I know, that value is only for the order of the default (non-custom) menu. I don’t know of any similar value for posts.

I was surprised too, but there is actually the same parameters in the post editing page

And the attribute order is also on the Weaver Show Posts available, so it would make sense if we can use it and benefit from it 🙂

The current sort criteria are good, but if you start to reorganize things you can’t rely on the given sort criteria, as none of these fit for me, because the posts are older not in any particular order that I can use, so I need to be able to manually order these, otherwise I would have to recreate all content and need to take care that I follow the right sequence, and once I decide to rearrange the posts again, all starts again…

I simply can NOT find any order attribute associated with Posts. I can ONLY find it for Pages. Where is it for Posts??????

Is it possible you are using a custom post type plugin that is adding that option?

I checked again, and I actually only have the attribute on The Weaver Show post > Slider posts, not on regular posts.

I deactivated my Types plugin to be sure, and I still have an attribute box on SLider posts, but NOT on regular posts
