I was told by my host that I need to do my PHP update myself.  So yet another adventure.  My good luck that I can do domains individually.

I’ve just successfully upgraded both the staging and my original website to PHP 8.2.27

The Meteor slide still actually works perfectly, so I’ll stick with that one until I have a similar backup replacement.

No issues reactivating the plugins either.  Actually extremely smooth within minutes.

There are still some things that need looking into but not pressing, the pressure is now off.

So a very big thank you to you all for your assistance in this conversion to Xtreme and PHP upgrade.  It’s been quite the learning curve but I’m glad to have done it.

I’ll most likely have more questions at some point but I will start another post at that time.

    Blessings of appreciation and gratitude

    Congratulations Claire!

I found that 8.2 was a great solution for my main site, as it was noticeably faster and minor error messages dropped to zero, as it seems to handle code issues much better.

Interesting to hear your host wouldn’t do the PHP upgrade themselves.  I think that’s rather uncomnon. ……

    Regards!

Thanks for the clarification  I understand.

However, it’s all rather a moot point now, as Meteor Slides seems to be working on PHP 8.2 and these header images links back to Home.

Before I saw it working, I wondered how effective it would be, as these PNGs only have minimal text of <5% of the image, so I thought it would be hard to get users to click on that text.  However, I find that clicking anywhere in the header area works.  I wasn’t quite expecting that 🙂   But I suppose the images are “full header size” tho the text isn’t.

FYI, I found it interesting that in #75533 above, the comment “If I remove the weaver slider, there is no header, nor is there one behind the Meteor slide above, but it works.”  “It” being the Xtreme “Header Image Links to Site” option.

The reason I mention that, is whether simply moving a “non-existent header image” to a larger z-index than Meteor use, might have the same effect and make it the header image area clickable to home.  If that works, it may  work on Weaver Slides too, giving a Home link option, without the need to change the plugin.

Again, just a passing along a th0ught that kept me awake last night  🙂

    Regards!

It would probably work to create a header image as large as the slider but completely transparent (png), position the slider exactly at the same location as the slideshow but over the slideshow using CSS. That would allow the link to work on the whole surface of the slideshow.

Quite convoluted when you can just get a slideshow with the option 🙂

    @scrambler and @user

Yes, I’m using full header size transparent background images for the slider…and was also coming to the same conclusion that adding a transparent header image separate from the Weaver slider might do the trick for the Home page connection…I might give that a try on the staging site at some point but since the Weaver slider is no longer supported, I’m wondering if it’s worth the time?

And another Yes, everything is so much faster with PHP 8.

There’s still some very weird stuff going on with Brave browser, I wish I’d known this at the beginning, it would have saved me a lot of grief…I’ve now discovered that from the six different computers that I’ve been testing, the  Brave OS has some very specific connections to the specific computer (make/model whatever) of all things, nothing to do with the Brave versions.  Unfortunately my desktop with Brave, is one of the ones where my website looks the worst, so I’m considering  be going back to using Firefox as my main browser…another smaller project.

For now I’m moving my main focus on starting the seedlings for food production for the year.  I’ll be back sporadically to pick your brains and wisdom, if I may 🙂  Blessings of appreciation and gratitude to you fine folks 🙂

Not worth wasting time with hacking the weaver slider for that if another solution exist 🙂
