Using Show Posts – Sticky Posts Not On Top

Hi all, helping a friend set up her blog. On this page, http://www.asipofhungary.com/reds/, I’m using a filter and show posts to lists red wines. The one(s) with a star next to them are sticky posts yet they don’t appear at the top. I’m using “Title and Top Meta Line” so I get the sticky class to display the star. I’ve also set “Show Sticky posts at beginning of displayed posts” which I thought would display stickies first.  Am I misunderstanding the way it works or is something wrong?

I’m on 1.3.9 of Show Posts and am on WP 4.6.1.

I just created a test case, and [show_posts] on a default type page template does show sticky posts at the top when the show sticky posts option is checked.

If you are using [show_posts] on a post instead of a page, there could be issues at the short code is not really designed for nested display.

I would also think you could us a Page with Posts for the same purpose as that will show posts by title only.

For example, see this page showing list of posts with the first post being a sticky post:

Whatever content you put in the content of a Page with Posts will show above the posts shown.

It is a default page template so something else must be interfering with it. When I do a Page with Posts the sticky do appear at the top, just not with the [show_posts filter=”reds”]

You know you can do the same filtering directly with the page with posts options, no need to use show posts here.

Do make sure you installed the Xtreme Theme Support Plugin in order to get all the per page / posts options
