Uploader for Images not Working

I have worked on both installing several Weaver Xtreme and converting from Weaver II so I know some of the basics.  I have not had any trouble using the header I wanted.

This last WP site I am working on is not letting me change the header from the default.  I have tried many 18 times (ok stubborn) …

Usually I don’t use the uploader – I link to the url of images themselves – but I can’t figure out how to do this here.  I did try to find where to put it directly, but I can’t figure that out.  I have uploaded to the uploads directly from FTP and tried a bunch of times to upload with the uploader in different ways.  If you edit the images, they are there but I can’t see them in the uploader itself and set the header image won’t recognize them.  They are the same ones I used – I used a couple of diff ones … I do not think it is the image itself.

I don’t have a clue how to fix the uploader, any advice is welcome  (and I didn’t have this problem anywhere else)  Thank you so much!!  ~ Diane Clancy

I am not sure what you call the uploader.

I upload y image using Media > Library > Add new 

For the header image if you are setting it with WordPress Appearance > Header (Customizer), you can also upload directly from there with Add New in the Customizer options on the left.

If this is not working, then something is messed up with the wordpress install. I would also try to deactivate ALL non weaver plugin, just to be sure

I guess I should deactivate all the non-weaver plugin then … I have tried what you said above – multiple times … if it is the install, what do I do?  Thank you so much!!!!  ~ Diane

Can you upload an image using Media > Add New?

If yes, does the image show up in the library when you go to Media > Library?

If yes, does the image show up on a page if you create a test page and use Add  Media to add that image in the page content?

The image does not show up in the library after I do

Media> add new

When I make a new page or post and go to Media Library, it says there are several images there but nothing shows up

And if I chose one anyway and insert into page … there is something there – but no image shows up with it – just name and link  🙂

If I can just know where to put in the direct url for the header, I would be happy  🙂  Yes, the uploader matters long term, but I am not feeling good without my header which is my branding  (I am an artist) – Thank you!!

If when you add an image to the library it does not show up, you need to fix that issue because it means your installation is seriously broken…

Have you tried deactivating ALL non weaver plugins to see if that makes a difference?

If not a plugin causing trouble, I would try redoing the last WordPress Update in Dashboard > Update

What file format are you uploading? It should be a jpeg or png. I sometimes mistakenly drag a psd file and it goes thru the process and nothing is there. Also, maybe  the file is too large.

Maureen, thank you – the files are small and also optimized for the web – they are either jpg or png – thank you!!

I did deactivate all my non-weaver plugins, Scrambler … it did not help – I guess I will redo the last.  I think this has been going on for a long time probably

Is there anyway I can put in the url of the image I want for the header?  Thank you!

I have temporarily gone back to Weaver II so at least my banner is there – I am still working on problems created when I disabled all the non-Weaver plugins – maybe I can at least do those – and they don’t show up as much … hopefully I can get Xtreme back to where I had it – very happy except the banner  🙂  but I have my birthday party that I better get to (it is mine 🙂  )  I will pick this up tomorrow  🙂  Thank you!

You can use any of the various header areas that allow HTML to directly use an <img> tag with a direct link to a banner. You must use the Media Library to use the WP Header image interface.

But if you can’t upload new images, your site has serious issues, and you really should get that figured out because you will have all sorts of other issues as well – likely even to the point of not being able to update WP, themes, or plugins.

But as a first step, open the Dashboard : Updates menu, and then click the “Re-install Now” button near the top for WordPress updates. Then, open the Dashboard : Settings : Permalinks menu and click “Save Changes”. These two steps should get your WP installation set to the proper defaults. If you Media Library is still not working, you have some kind of permission issues on your host.

Thank you, Weaver!  I have done what you said, gotten my host to put in a fresh .htaccess and made sure that all the permissions were set (I am not having this problem anywhere else)

When I use the widgets for the header, then it puts the header above the whole section with WP blog name and menus – so that doesn’t really work – is there anyway I can tell Weaver Xtreme to get the image from a direct url?

I am stumped!!  I think I haven’t been able to upload for years … never mattered til now.

Any advice?

NEWS FLASH!!!!

As I was looking through WP support – AGAIN – I came across checking what setting the media upload was – that had been corrupted (……/……///////…….)  – took that away and it is PERFECT NOW!!
