Trouble with post formatting

Hello,

I set up a website for someone where there is a page that has a list of scheduled events that are displaying posts on that page. So in other words a lists of posts will show on this page that has a certain category. On the individual posts it’s recognising her paragraphs when she types in the visual view but when it displays on the pages it comes in as one long sentence with no lone breaks. When she puts a <br> tag or <p> tag in it will work.

If works however when I go back to look at the HTML in the text view it’s gone. Is there something I need to click to make it work right for her? I don’t want her to have to enter any HTML just to type simple paragraphs?

We need to have a link to the page to be sure of what you mean.

If the page is showing excerpts, what you need to understand is that when a page displays the post excerpts, WordPress default excerpts are stripped of any HTML, so the default WordPress excerpts will have no formatting.

If you need excerpts that have formatting, you need to use manual excerpts and put the content you want in them. If the manual excerpt box is not visible in the post editing page, you need to activate it in Screen options at the top of the post editing page.

Sorry I didn’t include a link because she wanted it password protected until the site was ready to go live. Here is the link to the page that has the posts in them and I used a <br> tag to get the lines to not be one long line.

What I did is add this line of code to this page [show_posts filter=”appearances”]

I can’t quite remember the section where I chose this option. Is this a weaver option or a wordpress option because I am not seeing it in the weaver theme options?

Hi Scrambler,

I found where I made the filter in the Weaver post options. I didn’t realize it stripped out the formatting? I did not use the “show posts as excerpt check box on the individual post.

Any ideas of what might be happening here?

Hi Scrambler,

I think I possibly have this thing figured out. I did not realize there was a page with posts template. It looks like this may do what I want it to do and still keep the formatting. Soooooo many options with this thing!
