ParticipantI want a sidebar on the right of my home page which will contain a calendar and a subscribe link to my mailing list.

The problem I’m having is when I add the layout options as ‘sidebars on right’ to my home page I get the ‘recent posts’ widget from my blog which I don’t want.
I’m getting confused somewhere along the line so any help appreciated as to how I can have sidebars on each page (main and blog) with different content – one for the home page and another for the blog.
Thanks for any help.

Moderatoryou may have default widgets already put in the sidebars.
the content of the sidebar is managed in Appearance > Widgets.
Open the primary and secondary sidebar areas and remove any widget in there you don’t want, and place the ones you do want

ParticipantOk – I think I’ve managed to do it using the primary and secondary sidebar areas and turning one or the other off on the per page settings.
I just need to separate the widgets now with white space rather than having one long widget area on the home page.

Thanks for your answer which made me look a bit closer.

ModeratorTo separate the widget, use a background color on the widgets themselves in Main Options > Sidebar & Layout > Individual widgets > Individual Widget BG instead of the Sidebar widget area ( Main Options > Sidebar & Layout > Primary widget area > Primary widget area BG)
You can then increase the space using the individual widget Top and bottom margin boxes
