    Hello all,

    I am using the Weaver Show Posts Plugin to display different blog categories on different pages. Some probelms are occuring during the setup:

    1. Is it possible to move the Excerpt of the article next to the picture? At the moment at first comes the pictures and then in the next line the excerpt.
    2. The setting ” “Continue Reading…” message for excerpts.” is not working. I wrote a description in the field before this text but it is not beeing displayed. How I can activate this?
    3. Also the Excerpt word length is not working. It does not matter which number I write in the box.

    I am using the Weaver Show Posts Plugin (V 1.3.15) with the OnePress Theme 2.2.0.
    The native theme option shows the following:
    • Native Theme Support Interaction with native theme. Options apply to all filters, but not to image sliders.
    Sorry, your theme does not seem to have native support for displaying posts from this plugin. You can add custom CSS rules on the “Style” tab to make posts better match your current theme.

    Thanks in advance and best regards

    1. if not using the weaver Xtreme theme, I suspect the featured image may be taken from the theme. Try checking the option “Disable automatic post display integration with Weaver II/Weaver Xtreme Themes.” to see if that makes a difference. For more help, we need a link to the site page where the show posts is used
    2. This should work, there is nothing to activate. If you are not using the weaver theme, try checking the option “Disable automatic post display integration with Weaver II/Weaver Xtreme Themes.” in the filter option page, as your theme may be interfering
    3. Same as above

    Hi scrambler,

    Thanks for your support.
    Unfortunately the site page isn’t online now. It is in the maintenance mode at the moment.
    I hope the following information can be useful, because I can’t find the option your are mentioning.

    The settings of WeaverExtreme:

    Screenshot of my site:

    The picture which you can see there should be next to the excerpt of the blog entry. Not before the text.
    Also the Continue Reading isn’t displayed and the excerpt length is not used.

    HTML of the content of my site:

    you are saying “The settings of WeaverExtreme:

    But these are the settings from Weaver Show posts.

    Weaver Xtreme is a Weaver theme, from what I can see in your images, you are not using a Weaver theme, and therefore your theme may be causing the featured image layout.

    If you are not going to use the Weaver Xtreme Theme, then we can may be fix the Layout with Custom CSS, but I will only be able to do that when we can access the site online

    Hi,

    Thanks for your help! Sorry for the confusion. I definitly ment the Weaver Show Post plugin…
    I am using the OnePress theme, yes, so perhaps the settings from WeaverShowPosts is overwritten by the theme?

    The website isn’t online yet, but I will contact you again when I have finished the maintenance.
    Thanks in advance and best regards

    Hi scrambler,

    the website is now online (https://greendroid.de/blog).

    Can you help me with fixing these problems:

    4. Is it possible to get a specific color when I move the mouse over the entrytitle? At the moment this is a light grey, I would like to have it in the green which I am using in the other links. Also the underlining of the link should be disabled.

    Thanks in advance and best regards

    1- Add the rule below to the Show-Post Custom CSS Rule box found in the Custom CSS Tab

    .atw-featured-image {float:left;margin-right:20px;}

    2 & 3 – I don’t know why the show post “Continue reading” setting box and the “excerpt length” would not work, maybe @weaver will have an idea.

    4- This is the general link setting of your theme. You theme should have a place to set the link color. If not, The rule below in the custom CSS Rule box will do that just for the show post titles

    .atw-entry-title a:hover {color:#75c082;}

    Wow, thanks for your fast answer!

    1. Is working fine. Is it possible to add a space between the posts? Now the headline of the 2nd post is directly under the picture of the 1st post.

    2. & 3. Okay thanks.

    4. My theme has this option but, why ever, it was not working for this site. Is it possible to disable the underlining of the titel? Then we would have the same style for all links.

    Thank you very much and best regards

    1- Add the rule below, and set the margin to what you want

    .atw-show-posts .post, .atw-show-posts .hentry {margin-bottom:1.5em;overflow:hidden;}

    4- Change the 2d rule to

    .atw-entry-title a:hover {color:#75c082;text-decoration:none;}

    Perfectly fine, thanks a lot!
    Then only point 2 and 3 are missing. But the main points are done.

    Thanks and best regards

    @nh

    I don’t see any continue reading message at the end of your excerpts.

    So your theme must have an option that disable them, or may be a plugin you are using.
    Same my be true for the length of the excerpt. Look for a theme option or a plugin interference.

    If you don’t find a theme option, try disabling ALL plugin except show posts and see if that makes a difference

    Hi,
    I can’t find an option to set the excerpt length or the continue reading message.
    Also disabling all plugins except Show Posts does not make a difference.

    Unfortunately some additional code for the function.php is not working as well (https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/the_excerpt/).

    Something is going wrong here 😀
    Thanks for your help!

    When you display posts using your theme blog page as excerpts, do you have a continue reading message?

    May be it is time to switch to weaver Xtreme theme 🙂

    Hi,

    no, also then I can’t get the Continue Reading message. Also not when I add the tag in the text.
    Does that mean, that something is wrong in my theme?

    Yeah, perhaps, but then I would start to configure my layout from the scratch. Sorry 😛
    Best regards

    Are you using a child theme? if so try deactivating that too to see if it is the reason.

    You could also try temporarily switching to a different theme like 2016 and see if then the message comes up.

    But if your default WordPress blog page is not showing the continue reading/more link when showing excerpts, then some thing is wrong with the install or the theme you are using.

    Your site has a fairly simple design, it would not be long to set it up with Xtreme 🙂

    You could clone your site in a sub folder and experiment with that on the clone. Once the clone looks the same you can just copy settings over the live site

    Yeah there seems to be something wrong. I contacted the support of my theme, they are always very helpful.
    I will tell you what was the reason.

    For you it wouldn’t be much effort, but I am a completly newbie in website-design. I can’t handle php or css very good, so I am very very happy that the page is now looking and working as I want to. So, never touch a running system 😀
    But thanks, we will see if I can get it working.
    Best regards
