Registration not working fully for bbpress forum site

We are using the weaver plugin together with our bbpress forum we’ve made recently but when one registers there is no option to make a password.   Some people are using the ‘Forgot password’ but would be much better if they could add a password when making their account.

Can anyone throw light on how to achieve this please?

The password is set later when they do the two factor login. The link in the email opens a page with the option to set the password.

This is controlled by the WordPress registration process, and not bbPress or a theme.
