Problem with Xtreme 2.0

Today I switched to Xtreme 2.0 from the admin interface of WordPress.

Everything is OK but I have some problems to customize the theme:

– From the Dashbord menu /Appearance/Review Xtreme/Administrator option/Main Options/Wrapping Areas I can change the outside BG color but this has no effect on the  web pages

–  If I try to use the customize icon from the WordPress top menu bar (…/wp-admin/customize.php control …), everything is frozen

– Selecting the French language option Settings/General/Language also freeze the UI

Should I uninstall the theme and install a new 2.0 version from scrathch (after saving to solve these problems?

It cannot hurt to save your settings, then remove the theme as well as the Weaver Xtreme Theme support plugin, and reinstall the latest versions of both

Weaver Xtreme V2 does require more resources from you own computer – it can appear to fail or freeze on some browsers – for example, the new Edge browser on IE10.

It also may require additional PHP memory on your host.

It works okay on WP 4.3, but will work MUCH better on the upcoming WP 4.4, which should be released tomorrow.

As suggested by scmabler I have selected/activated another theme, removed the Xtreme theme as well  Weaver Xtreme Theme support plugin,  then I have reloaded and ativate both of them.

I recovered all my setteings but I am sill stuck withe the same problems: the gb-photos/wp-admin/customize.php?….. does work (frozen).

I have a trial install on localhost on my PC and with this installation, actually, I have access to the customize option but the modification of the site backgroud still does not properly works  (changing image or color can be done but are not saved).

Using french language for the WordPresse user interface adds more problems to the site administration.

As suggested by weaver I will wait until WP 4.4 is realeaded.

Just to be clear about your current problems:

1. If you open the Customizer – no matter how – it is frozen – does not display the options.
2. You are unable to use the WP default background image/color option to change the background image. This is not a Weaver option, but rather the WP Appearance : Background option?

The latter is now included on the Customizer, and if the Customizer won’t load, then that option won’t work either.

But hopefully WP 4.4 will solve this problem.

I have updated to WP version 4.4 and Xtreme version 2.01. 

Most of my problems have been solved.

However there is still a big problem with the size of php script allowed by my provider (80 MB for a shared hosting) which is not big enough to run all my scripts as suggested by WEAVER as a consequence of the upgrade Xtreme v2.xx . It seems to me that there is no cure for this problem which prevent me to customize my interface. Sadly, I will go back to WEAVER II.

Any comment  on that?

You may be able to increase memory by editing the php.ini file the server, or ask your host for assistance to do that. 

If your host cannot/will not increase it, it may be time to find a new host.

And no need to go back to Weaver II, the new version 2.01 adds an option to deactivate the Customizer, hopefully that should fix the problem.

Disable Weaver Xtreme Customizer Interface – found on Appearance : Weaver Xtreme Admin : Advanced Options : Admin Options

This option disables all the Weaver Xtreme Customizer Menus, and restores whatever is the default for the Customizer menu.

The Legacy interface remains. You do have to have the Weaver Xtreme Theme Support Plugin installed

I went back to Extreme and disabled the Weaver Xtreme Customizer Menus. Everything is OK. The problem with the size of php scripts is solved.

I will try to find what is the minimum memory requirement to safely admin my site.

For Maureen: getting an unlimited script memory size is a giant leap in the price of hosting my site. Actually I must switch from a shared hosting to a dedicated web server.

@gblanc, I have several sites on shared hosting. When I run into a memory issue, I edit the php.ini file to increase the memory and then the site is good to good. I contact the hosts and they will either give me instructions (i.e. what info to put on a text file and where to upload it) or tell me where it php.ini file is on the server for the site so I can edit it. None of my sites are on a dedicated server.

I know it can be a hassle to switch hosts, but even the cheap plan for BlueHost.com, for example, gives you plenty of memory. I’m running a single “dedicated” site on one of those really cheap plans, and the fairly low traffic site is plenty fast, and has plenty of memory. It is about $4 per month.

I think I’ve tested the theme on a site with as little as 64MB, but that will depend on other plugins, etc, so I would think 96MB should really be enough, but 128MB would be better. Of course, sites with more memory will tend to be a bit faster as there will be less memory swapping as different visitors open your site.

Actually my two web sites use WEAVER-XTREME 2.01 with :

– all the Weaver Xtreme Customizer Menus disabled;

– Weaver Xtreme Theme Support Plugin installed

– 64MB of script memory

And I have no more problems.
