Per User Views?

Hi,

is anyone aware of how to achieve the following?

I like to hide certain things when a user is logged in. The items to be hidden are some widgets or even sidebars and instead these widgets and sidebars should either be hidden or replaced with other widgets or sidebars. I like to have a so called membership view where members of the site will not be bothered with advertisements and get a kind of premium view or content…

Although there are membership plugins out, I wonder if I can simply define to display different widget areas when a user is signed in?
