    I need to add some padding so the content doesn’t abut too closely to the sides. Where would I put that? It’s not so much an issue on desktop/laptop, but is not my phone and tablet.

    You have left and right padding options in the content area option. set it to the value you like

    I ended up adjusting the padding in the footer and all is good now.
