Newbie With Simple questions: Green lines and photos (2 different topics)

Hi all,

Used Weaver 2010 forever, but cannot update to correct php version so upgraded to Weaver Xtreme (paid version). At the moment, just basically working with a staging version of the original site to get it to look and feel close to the same.

 

Three questions:

1. There is a green line beneath the post titles; also, that green line separates the widgets in the left sidebar. How do I change that color? I have searched but cannot find the answer (and I know it should be simple).
2. How or where do I change the green color of the ‘Continue reading’ button?
3. Since I am using a staging site, all images (I assume) were brought over from the original site. And most images DO appear, but some, no. I have a feeling the difference might be that some of the very old images live outside the uploads folders. Our VERY old site was, originally, a dreamweaver site and I notice a lot of those images are in a folder called “images” nd are probably just pointed to.

   My question is, once I do a full deploy, and the staging site takes on the name of the original site it is replacing, do you think this will rectify things? I’m just wondering if I need to hunt all these images down and change the path to the uploads folders, or if they should (theoretically) resolve themselves?

Haha! Wait! I figured out how to change the color under the post title and the sidebar widgets Whoopee!…Only need to understand the photo problem, now.

Sorry am out and on a phone, so limited in what I can do.

However, I took one link from a missing image and tried to open it directly, but it leads to a 404.

It seems your  /images/…..jpg. path is not WP compliant.

My thoughts and suggestion is to uoload a new test image to the site and record the full path.

Next, copy all yout images into the same directory as that new test image.  (Don’t delete the old images! )

Then use a ‘find and replace’ plugin to change the paths of the old images to match that of the new test image, and the place where you have copied all the old ones.

I did this years ago for some odd fix and it worked.

Please be sure to back up the database before you change it, and test it first with a single image url to make m sure it works for you, BEFORE using the muclear  site-wide option, as search-and-replace cannot be undone!

Thanks so much! If you recommend a specific find and replace plugin, let me know, if not inconvenient.

Also, I think the reason you got the 404 is that the link is missing the ‘g’ at the end of jpg. I couldn’t figure out how to plug in the link without the image coming up, so I ‘broke’ it.

The text of the continue reading is the wrapper link color, you can change it there.

The background of the continue reading can be change with the CSS rule below placed in the Theme Global custom CSS rule box

.more-msg {background: #C12311;}

There may be a theme setting for it, but I can’t recall….

For the images, I would doubt it would resolve itself.  If it does not, you may need to copy the folder structure with all the images in the right location so the path becomes valid.

From your site I see that this typical link does not work:

http://staging7.reelingsilk.com/images/AMApx/gx_style11.jpg

but this link does work:

https://www.staging7.reelingsilk.com/academy/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/salute0005-200x133.jpg

From what Scrambler has suggested, you need to copy (move) the whole images/ directory into academy/wp-content/uploads/

That will make the image url something like:

https://www.staging7.reelingsilk.com/academy/wp-content/uploads/images/AMApx/gx_style11.jpg

Once a copy the images/directory is in the correct place, then using the Better Search Replace plugin, you will need to change the url portion reading reelingsilk.com/images/ to reelingsilk.com/academy/wp-content/uploads/images/

That will leave the start and end portions of the image urls unchanged. Only the directory locations will change.

Again, please TEST this and make a backup copy before you start, as undoing this may be a challenge, other than using the backup and starting again.
