My front page is set to a static page, default template. My blog page is -select- and the template is page-with-posts. But when I preview a post it appears on the front page. Is there something else I need to set?

ParticipantI guess I wasn’t clear. I don’t want the front page to show my posts. I want the Blog page to show them. I’ve set the front page to static and to default. I’ve set the Blog page to -select- and to page with posts. But the posts go to the front page.

ParticipantReading Settings >
1) Set the Homepage to the page you want as your front page.
2) Set the “posts page” to the page you have set to show the posts, and set your menu to show that page as “Blog”.I think that is what you need.
Regards!

ModeratorThis is inexact.
If you select a page in the post page drop down list, then the blog page will be managed as the default WordPress blog page, and NONE of the theme setting on the blog page editing page will work.

ParticipantI went to Settings/Reading . For – Your homepage displays – I choose a static page.
For Posts page – I choose -Select- as I was instructed to do. At first I kept thinking select meant select one of the following, but -select- is what prevents post (supposedly) from reverting back to the home page. And the home page is set to default.
I have a Blog page set to page with posts. But the blog post still wants to go the home page. This is the main thing I want to fix so I can post.
The actual Blog page is currently a mess because I deleted a post and now have an ugly message instead. I also posted a question hoping for a fix for that.

KeymasterI all you are wanting to display on the Blog page is all of your posts, then you do not need Weaver’s page with posts which is intended to show selected posts based on tag or category or other options.
Instead, simply create a blank page using the page editor and title it whatever you want you blog page to be. (e.g., Blog).
Then from the dashboard settings -> reading , set the Blog option to the page you just created. Your whole blog will then be displayed on that page.
You will, of course, have to add that page to a menu.
If, on the other hand, you do want to select specific posts to show, then using a Page with Posts as the template can do the job. The is the case where you need to set the Posts page to -Select-. (You do not want that blank page to be a Page with Posts – just a normal page).
If you then just use Page with Posts with no settings on the page, you should get identical results as the above method of selecting a blank page as your Blog/Posts page. Once you get that behavior, then you can work with setting options on the Wage with Posts page to show which posts you want to.
So I would step back, and start with the default WP method – setting the Posts page to a blank page. Then try creating a Page as a Page with Posts page. Any content you add to that page will be displayed above the blog posts (but you don’t need any content if you goal is to simply display posts). You then need to change the Posts page from the blank page to -Select-.
To summarize:
WP by default will use your Home page to host you Posts. If you change the Home page to a normal Page, then the blog will be displayed on the page you select for Posts in the settings. If no page is selected (-Select-), then there will be no posts displayed.
If you selecte a page for your posts from the settings option, then that Page will be used to show all of your posts (and any content on that page is actualy ignored).
So, to use a Weaver Xtreme Page with Posts to show your selected posts, you just leave the settings post page set to -Select- which means none. And your Page with Posts will show your posts.
If you’ve done all of this and you aren’t getting the posts you expect, then you need to concentrate on the Options available at the bottom of the Page with Posts page found below the content of that page (which is often just blank) when in either the Classic Editor of the Block Editor.

ModeratorWhat is the name of the page selected under reading settings > Home page, and provide a link to that.
Assuming you have Post page set to nothing (showing -select-), what is the name of the page with posts you created for the blog page, and give us a link to that.

Thanks all. I think it’s resolved. The preview was confusing me.
