I plan to make the switch to Xtreme from Aspen sometime in the upcoming weeks. I read through this web link http://weavertheme.com/aspen-to-weaver-xtreme-converter/ and looked at this forum post http://forum-archive.weavertheme.com/discussion/11303/converting-a-weaver-ii-pro-or-aspen-site-to-weaver-xtreme.
The process seams as though it will take some time to carefully go through the outlined steps, so I have a couple of questions just for clarity. Sorry, if I am asking something that is already answered somewhere, but I don’t pick up computer technical stuff quickly and I am cautious, fearing I will do something wrong wrecking my site.1) When I start making the theme change can I observe the changes without having the new theme go live on the site?2) If theme the changes doesn’t have to go live right away can I continue to make posts on my site once I started going through the process of changing the theme? I ask this because I make daily posts and I want to make sure I can continue to post daily if theme change doesn’t go smooth. 🙂Thank you!Pat M.If you read the second thread you mentioned above, you will see the following
Note: If your site should not be disturbed, you should clone your site in a sub folder or sub domain, and execute this whole process on the cloned site first. This would allow you to finalize all the settings for the Xtreme theme without disturbing your live site, and only apply these to the live site when you have worked out all the details. If you need help with cloning your site, read the article on the subject in the FAQ http://weavertheme.com/migrate-your-site-to-new-domain-name-or-new-server/
If you do not do that, as soon as you start loading the converted settings, you live site will change
