    Hi – hope you’re well!

    Since WordPress 5.0 and Gutenberg, large space appears above embedded YouTube videos.

    I read this elsewhere online:

    “So this issue happens because embeds created in Gutenberg are now responsive out of the box. The issue here is that if the theme itself also provides responsiveness for embeds through filtering the output, you end up with a double fix, which makes this extra space appear.”

    Can something be done about this?

    Thanks!

    George

    I also have this problem on one of my test sites. But in the editor window, everything looks fine.

    @weaver will have to review this.
    In the mean time and until a fix is done, the CSS below seems to fix it
    .fluid-width-video-wrapper {position:absolute;top:0px;}

    Hey, scrambler – hope you’re well…

    I tried the fix, but the issue persists (example in private post above).

    I tested with both Firefox and Chrome.

    No caching plugins are active on the website.

    Thanks!

    You need to add !important to the absolute property

    .fluid-width-video-wrapper {position:absolute !important;top:0px;}

    Yeah, that post appears to be fine.

    These two don’t:

    http://wp-demo.us/security-cameras/wired-versus-wireless-security-cameras/

    Not sure why – all posts are built exactly the same way.

    Thanks!

    You guys are trying to confuse me 🙂

    The ones you are having problem with and the one that are good are not using the same method of insertion.

    The bad ones seem to be using WP YouTube embed shortcode (class wp-block-embed-youtube), the good one is not (class fluid-width-video-wrapper, may be using Xtreme YouTube shortcode?).

    So pay attention to which method is used and which produces good result and which bad ones.

    @scambler –

    The one I’m having trouble with is the one where I’m trying to use the  WP YouTube embed shortcode (class wp-block-embed-youtube).

    This one does not seem to work. It produces too much space above it.

    Sorry about the confusion.

    What was the solution to this?
