Indexing pages

I am trying to index my site’s pages (www.openvoices.ca) using Google Search Console (GSC) and I am not having any luck.  There error I am getting is that my pages are excluded because of a ‘no index’ tag in ‘robots’ meta tag.  I want to be able to index all the pages on my website and I don’t know how to remove this ‘no index’ tag.  Can you help?

By way of background, I installed the Yoast SEO plugin and on its dashboard I set the ‘show in search’ to yes for my pages.  I also went to each individual page and under the Advanced tab I set ‘allow search engines to show content’ to yes.

The “best answer” option provided does not apply to my situation because I already made sure that setting was correct.

 I believe if you install a sitemap plugin such as ‘XML Sitemap & Google News‘ and add the URL of the sitemap to your ‘robots.txt’ file that will solve the issue.

The robots.txt URL will be like Sitemap: https://www.openvoices.ca/sitemap.xml

Was searching, and if your have these plugins, this may help:

Yoast SEO: This plugin is widely used for SEO optimization and has a feature that allows you to noindex individual pages. To do this, follow the same steps as above, but instead of selecting “noindex” from the dropdown menu, select “noindex, follow.”

All in One SEO Pack: This plugin also has a noindex feature. To use it, go to the “All in One SEO” section of the page editor, and under the “Advanced” tab, select “noindex” from the “Meta robots index” dropdown.

My indexing pages problem continues.  Google Search Console (GSC) is trying to validate my pages but they write, “Google has started validating your fix of Page indexing issues on your site. Specifically, we are checking for ‘Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag’, which currently affects 27 pages.”

I have no idea how or why my pages have this ‘noindex tag’ set nor do I know where or how to change that tag.  I recently created the site (Summer 2025) using the Weaver Xtreme theme and I wonder if the theme sets this tag by default and, if so, how I can change this?

By way of background, Yoast SEO is installed on my site and my sitemap was successfully uploaded to Google Search Console (GSC).   Also using Yoast SEO, under the advanced menu, I set to ‘yes’ the option to allow search engines to show the content and to allow search engines to follow links on this content.  I did this for all public pages and for member-only pages (where a login is required), I did the opposite.

My goal is to have all my public pages searchable so fixing this indexing problem is a must.

Have you resubmitted tbese 27 pages to Google?

If not, please do so, as Google does make errors.

I was just looking at your site again and cannot find 27 pages.

I imagine one needs to be signed into the site to view them. Is that correct?

If so, Google may  not be able to access them if Google doesn’t have tbe permissions needed.

That may explain why all restricted pages have a noindex tag, and I’d imagine that’s perhaps a WP core feature.
