Image Gallery Plugin with range of image sizes

Hi. When I migrate my website to Weaver Xtreme, I am on Weaver II now, I want to use a new image gallery plugin. I have NextGEN plugin now and I do not like the options for displaying images and I find navigating the admin very clumsy. 

I am an artist and I just want a clean grid of 4 columns on my home page with a light box that allows a description. I assume sorting would be a standard feature. I do not need any sliders.  My website is http://paulagibbsart.com

NextGen is doing the job okay, but I am sure there has to be a gallery with a more graceful backend. Last time I tried the WP native gallery I had difficulty getting it to display correctly.

On one website I use NextGen, which you don’t seem to care for.  On another website I use “Photo Gallery” by Webdorado.
