SHP Webmaster
ParticipantHello,
I’m currently experiencing a problem with the Weaver Xtreme theme on one of my websites. I can’t update the settings via the website interface.
Could you help me identify and solve this problem?
Thank you in advance for your help.January 21, 2025 at 12:31 UTC - Views: 46 #75361User

To help speed things up, can you please confirm that you have tested for plugin conflicts etc. on the site, and that your WP core, plugins and theme are all the latest versions?

KeymasterThis would almost certainly be some sort of wp / site configuration issue, or a plugin conflict.
- have you recently added a new plugin?
- what do you mean by website interface? The Customizer? The Classic interface.
- There can be problems if you have both Customizer and Classic open.
- Are you logged in as an admin and not author or something lower?
Are you sure the changes haven’t been saved – there can be caching issues.
What happens when you update – an error message, nothing. Just saying you can’t update is not overly helpful. Need more details of just what is not working and at what point in the process it doesn’t work.

ModeratorWhen you say you cannot update the settings, is it from the Customizer, or from the legacy Admin (Appearance > Xtreme Admin > Main options page)?
If the customizer, try going to the Legacy Admin and save from there and see if it makes a difference. You do need the Xtreme Theme support plugin for that…
If the customizer, when you change a setting and click publish, does the preview works but not the Live site? If you exit the customizer and go back in, is the change still there, or did it revert to the old setting in the customizer.

ParticipantHello, @weaver
I am reaching out regarding a technical issue I am experiencing while using your theme. It seems that the Web Application Firewall (WAF) protection from my hosting provider is causing a conflict, which prevents the site from functioning properly.
I am currently in contact with their technical support to explore possible solutions on their end. However, since this issue appears to be directly related to Weaver your theme, I would like to know if you have any recommendations or specific adjustments to resolve this type of conflict.
Your expertise on this matter would greatly help me determine the best course of action before making a final decision.
Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,

ParticipantHello Scrambler,
Thank you for your detailed feedback. Upon checking, the changes work correctly with the Customizer. However, the issue lies with the old Admin (Appearance > Xtreme Admin > Main options page). It seems to be related to the WAF (Web Application Firewall), which is blocking certain actions or settings.I will look into possible solutions to address this issue. If you have any specific recommendations on this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you again for your help!Best regards,

Moderator1) To help with finding the source of the issue, can you please turn on DEBUG and let us have a copy of any “debug.log” after 24 hours?
2) Can you please provide a copy of “Your System and Configuration Info” which may be found in Weaver Xtreme Admin > Theme Help page.
You may like to use the Private Reply for this.
Regard.

Keymaster@SHP has contacted his hosting company, and a direct e-mail to me. If I understand it correctly there is some protection provided by the host called WAF that is blocking Weaver Xtreme. BUT, again if I understood correctly, it only blocks something that the Customizer does work, and it is just the classic interface that fails.
Given that, I assume that WP may or may not have had an issue with Customizer that got fixed. This is first we’ve heard of such an issue with the classic Weaver interface. I’m not sure we have the resources or information needed to figure out that issue. The protocols used by the classic interface were state of the art 10 years ago, and it certainly is possible that it interacts in a way that is failing some firewalls.
So, my recommendation is to entirely switch to the Customizer interface. The “Where” option for the Customizer version follows the classic version organization pretty closely, and really shouldn’t be that hard to switch to.
I will try to look into the WAF thing a bit, but am not optimistic about being able to track that down.
