How to create more than 1 widget area in a sidebar

On the home page of  www1.christmastreefestivals.org I have created a widget area in the sidebar which replaces the secondary widget area, using the per page widget option in Weaver Xtreme+settings and the replacement option in the page editor. So far so good. But whilst I can see from your documentation how I can create more than 1 widget area on a page using shortcodes, I can’t figure out how to do this in a sidebar.

What I am trying to achieve is to retain the original content of the secondary sidebar (a single widget which you can see on any other page), and add between 1 and 3 other widget areas on specific pages. I want to use additional widget areas rather than extra widgets in the single widget area replacement in part so I can visually get a separation between them and style them in different colours if required.

You populate Widget Areas with widget in Appearance > Widgets.

In that page you will see all the widget Areas, including the Custom Widget Area you can create at the bottom of Main options > Sidebar & Layout page.

So in Appearance > Widgets, you simply drag and drop as many widgets as you like in your widget area.

If what you want is to separate widget visually, what you need to do is Style the individual widgets instead on the widget area.

So first get rid of the widget area styling, then you can style widgets in Main Options > Sidebar & Layout > Individual widget section. Use existing options boxes for background color, padding and separation margin, and eventually put custom CSS rule in the Individual Widget BG CSS+ box.

If you need more specific help, explain what style you are having a problem to achieve

Thank you, I’ll have a go at the styling. So from what you say, structurally on a page you can have multiple widget areas each containing multiple widgets as per your demo page, but for a sidebar you have just one widget area which can contain multiple widgets, or you can replace it, as I have done, with a single widget area which again can contain multiple widgets?

Sidebar have two widget areas, primary and secondary as found in Main Options > Sidebar and layout, as well as Appearance > Widgets.

Each of these two areas can contain any number of widgets.

Each of these areas can be replaced on a page by page basis by a per page area you create. That per page area can contains any number of widget (as any widget area), same and or different.

So if you need to see more than two boxes in the sidebar, do not style the widget areas, but style widgets to be these boxes.
