Split: Genericons font being loaded in frontend when not needed
I’m getting errors the genericons aren’t being loaded. You replied to the op, but those replies were marked as private, so I’m kinda stuck. The site is theglobalvoice.info. Thank you.

Can you please let us know where you get the error messages / notifications, as Google Lighthouse were not even mentioning this issue, and other test places had it as an inconsequential side note.

Are you using them, and are they displaying fine?
As far as I can tell, genericons work just fine.
If you look at
you should see all the genericons displayed. The directions on the page still apply – since genericons were dropped by WP, the theme now includes the definitions in the distribution packaage.
PS – these are a fairly old set of icons, and don’t include most newer social media sites if that is your goal. There are several plugins that can provide more modern icons if that is what you need.
The error I’m getting is:

Yes, I’ve had that “rejected by sanitizer” notification for a long time now, but it seems not to have any impact on the site load times or anything else for that matter, so after research, chose to ignore it.
I have been able to see the error message, but not why it shows. But it is a bit of a false error and the file it references is not used used or loaded. The theme uses Genericons for menu arrows, search, and other purposes, so they are needed. The full set of Genericons is automatically present and displays properly.
