ParticipantThe newest version of WordPress added a checkbox beneath the comment section for users to choose if they wanted their information to be remembered the next time they want to add a comment. This checkbox is not showing on my site. Both WordPress and the theme have the most recent versions. WordPress indicates that in this situation, it is likely the theme overriding the command to add the box. Please correct this in the next update.

ParticipantI have version 4.05 of Weaver but the GDPR compliance checkbox is not showing or have I missed doing something?

ModeratorAre you speaking of the new privacy page found in Dashboard > Settings > Privacy ?

ParticipantI have the Privacy Policy on the web site – see http://www.ozbizonline.com.au but for Comments WP has added a checkbox for users to choose if they wanted to be remembered the next time they comment. However, it is not showing so does this meant that it is being overridden by Weaver or is there something I need to do to add it to the comments section.

KeymasterThe theme does not do anything to change how WP handles the privacy checkbox unless you’ve used custom CSS to hide it.
I think you have to create the privacy page via the Settings options. Do you get the Privacy Policy link in the footer? If not, then the privacy code must not be enabled via the settings options.

ParticipantThis is a new site so no custom CSS has been created at all. The privacy page has been created and the link appears as it should in the footer. Like the original poster’s query, in the comments section of the post, there is the comment field, name, email and web site fields but there is no checkbox. From another site: “With WordPress 4.9.6, the default WordPress comment form will now show a comment privacy opt-in checkbox. All WordPress themes that use the default WordPress comment form will now automatically show this checkbox.”
Does Weaver not use the default WP comment form?

KeymasterWeaver uses the standard comment form.
BUT….
You must also check the “Show comments cookies opt-in checkbox.” option on the Settings -> Discussion menu.
And it seems if you are logged in already, the opt-in checkbox doesn’t show. (I can’t confirm this 100%, but it seems to work this way)

ParticipantBingo! (Perhaps I should say Doh). That’s it. Wonderful, thank you.
