ParticipantHi,
Is it somehow possible to exchange the featured 150px x 150px image from the Weaver Show Post plugin by a wider one?
Here on my webpage you can see an example:On this page, for example, I would like to have a wider picture which fills up the same width as the excerpt below (dynamically depending on the screen width, as it is for the excerpt).
For this, I think, the featured-image has to be replaced by another picture which is then somehow shrinked und cropped? Thanks and kind regards

ModeratorThe size of the post featured image is normally set by your theme. Given you are not using the weaver Xtreme Theme I am not sure where that will be.
Look for posts featured image settings in your theme and try changing it there.
You can also try to check or uncheck the option below inside the The Weaver Post and Slider option > Filter TAB
“Disable automatic post display integration with Weaver Themes.”
And see if it makes a difference

ParticipantHi,
thank you very much for your help.
But, I do not want to change the “featured-image” behavior, because I am also using these small 150px x150px at some other points on my webpage (e.g. as a gallery preview).
I would like to change the picture which “Weaver Show Post” is using. Is it somehow possible, to select a different image source for the plugin?By the way: I cannot see any options in my theme (I am using OnePress) nor your option (“Disable automatic post display integration with Weaver Themes.”) in the WeaverPost and Slider settings to change the featured-image size.
Thanks and kind regards

KeymasterI don’t know how much your are concerned about bandwidth, or if the square FI is imporant, but there really isn’t a way to select which FI size is used for a post. The original FI can be large, medium, or thumbnail. Those sizes are set in the Dashboard : Settings options.
That said, one approach I can think of would be to use a larger FI size instead of the thumbnail for normal posts, and add some theme dependent custom CSS to reduce the default size for general posts, and then use the large size elsewhere when needed.

ModeratorDashboard > Weaver posts & Slider options > Filter TAB > Select Filter section > Native Theme Support > Disable Automatic post display integration.
Weaver is right, if you need Different featured image size for the posts in the slider than for the posts in the regular blog pages, the way to do that would be to set your Blog page Post featured image to the largest size you need so it applies to the slider, then use Custom CSS to reduce it in the Blog page.
We know the CSS for the Weaver XTreme theme, and if you set it up that way, we may be able to provide it also for your current theme, provided you give us a link to the blog page after you have set the featured image to a larger size.

ParticipantHi,
thanks for your support.
The reason why I have not found the setting in the dashboard is the following:• Native Theme Support Interaction with native theme. Options apply to all filters, but not to image sliders.
Sorry, your theme does not seem to have native support for displaying posts from this plugin. You can add custom CSS rules on the “Style” tab to make posts better match your current theme. Therefore I am not able to test this setting further…
I understand your approach by changing the default thumbnail size. Unfortunately I have already more than 750 pictures on my webpage. WordPress is creating, during upload, 9 different sizes from each picture. Also the thumbnail in 150px x 150px is included.
If I would change the thumbnail size now, this would only affect new pictures uploaded to the webpage. Or I would have to upoad each picture again and afterwards set all links, galleries, etc.. again.
This is not what I would like to do… Sorry…Therefore, I still hope, that there exists another way to advise Weaver Show Post to take another picture than the default thumbnail size.
I could imagine something like this:
In the Filter tab -> Define Post Display Filter Options -> Post Display -> Display posts as:
I can choose a new option (instead of Title + Featured Image or Excerpt) which names like “Title + Wide Image” or “Excerpt + Wide Image”. At this point the ShowPost plugin knows, that not the default thumbnail size from this post shall be used but instead the wider image.
E.g. the filename would change from: “Muskatnusskern-150×150.png” to “Muskatnusskern-300×150.png” or similar. Is there a possibility like this? I really don’t know if or how this is possible. I easily don’t have the knowledge for this.
Thanks and kind regards

ModeratorYou misunderstood our suggestion.
We did not mean to change the size of the thumbnail.
We meant to select medium or large for the size of your post featured images.
When you download images, WordPress creates the various resolutions, and your theme should have a way to specify what version you want to use ( Thumbnail, medium or Large). If you cant find that setting ask your theme developer.
If your theme has that setting, once you change it to have all blog pages use a bigger size version like large, we can come up with CSS to reduce it in the blog pages where you prefer it small.

ParticipantHi scrambler,
ooookay, now I got it 😀
Unfortunately I cannot find such an option in the Customizer of the Theme (OnePress). I will ask there and come back to you afterwards.
Thanks!Kind regards

ParticipantHi,
unfortunately I was not successful with the OnePress theme support.
Here the last response:By default, after an image uploaded, WordPress generates some thumbnails "large, medium ...", you can see here https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/the_post_thumbnail/#comment-1026. and our theme also generates some thumbnails: - onepress-blog-small: 300x150px - onepress-small: 480x300px - onepress-medium: 640x400px see here https://github.com/FameThemes/onepress/blob/master/functions.php#L51-L53 So if you want to show any thumbnail size of the featured image on the listing posts which is created by Weaver Show Post, please contact this plugin support to select a thumbnail.
Currently I am sitting between the chairs, because I cannot argue on any more details and ask for more support. I think I have not got such a deep knowledge of these internal wordpress image things.
Are there any more information you can provide for my problem? Anything more which I can ask in more detail to the OnePress support?
I have asked regarding “linking a different image size to the article” but I don’t know if this is the correct wording for it?Thanks and kind regards

ModeratorYou should not mention the weaver show post as your question to them is not about it, and the mere fact that you mention it immediately gives them a way to deflect.
You two questions to them are as follow.
How to I setup my theme so that my Blog pages use the largest available version of the featured image?
If a different setting, how to I setup my theme so that my single post pages use the largest available version of the featured image?

ParticipantHi,
thanks for the support. I will forward this to the support.
I have not mentioned WeverShowPost during the first messages but after a lot of messages going back an forth, I asked him to take a look here into the forum. But yeah… without success…
Kind regards

ParticipantHi,
I got the answer from the support:
The theme does not have any option to change the thumbnail size on the blog page or single post page, only by coding. You can find the code
- for blog page: https://github.com/FameThemes/onepress/blob/master/template-parts/content-list.php#L24 - for single post page: github.com/FameThemes/onepress/blob/master/template-parts/content-single.php#L25-L26
I have tried the first one in /content-list.php Line 24. Unfortunately nothing is changing in WeaverShowPost if I change this image type to ‘large’. Only my category-pages are changing the image size (e.g. the following page is getting larger pictures: https://greendroid.de/tag/gurke/).
In the second path /content-single.php Line 25&26 already ‘large’ is entered in the template. To what value I can change this to get a change in WeaverShowPost?
Thanks and kind regards

ModeratorMay be you should switch to the weaver Xtreme theme 🙂
May be at @weaver can comment on what PHP changes would allow Show posts to load a large version of the feature image…

ParticipantYes, changing the theme would perhaps solve this issue 😛
But this more work. Also to get the same look & feel as before is, I expect, nearly impossible.
So I do my very best to adjust everything in my current theme…
@weaver: Do you have any further ideas? Thanks and kind regards

KeymasterShow_posts uses the standard ‘thumbnail’ size to display the featured image. It seems you are using 150px x 150px for the thumbnail size.
You can change the thumbnails size to whatever size you want. Then used a media library image resize plugin to resize your images in the media library. The images will then display in show_posts using that size. Note that anywhere else in your theme that uses ‘thumbnail’ will also display the larger size.
You may also need to add a new custom css rule to support the new size:
.atw-featured-image img { max-width: 200px; height:auto; }
Replace the 200px with the new width of your thumbnail.
Note: there is more info about the FI size here: https://blog.hubspot.com/website/wordpress-featured-image-size

ParticipantHi @weaver,
thanks for your answer. Now we are getting closer to the solution 🙂
Therefore I want to raise up my questions from the beginning: Is it somehow possible to change the picture which WeaverShowPost is using? You are writing, that “Show_posts uses the standard ‘thumbnail’ size to display the featured image”. From my point of view it should be somehow possible to exchange the image source. You are currently using the ‘thumbnail’-size. Why not having a setting or something similar to change the ‘thumbnail’ size to the ‘medium’ size picture?
Then I would not have to reformat all my pictures and change all the ‘thumbail’-occurances on my webpage with a proper css code to bring them back to the original size.
For example the “Medium”-size picture is already available for all my pictures, why not using them?
Thanks and kind regards
