edit social links

Hi fellow weavers,

I have a site made about a year ago with the Weaver Extreme theme, very happy with it, but now I want to change one of the social links and I can’t find how to change this.

as you can see I have social icons in the header area. The YouTube link is not working because we made a new channel. I remember it was a bit of a hassle to set this up, but I can’t find how to change what the icon is linking to. When I open the customizer (level full) I see a preview of the site on the right, with a pencil in the middle of the header widget area (I made two columns I think). Clicking on that gives me a block in which I can delete or add social icons. But there’s no option to edit the link. Clearly I am missing something, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m outside at the moment so can’t check out your site, but if you know the old url and the new url you wish to use, you can use the “Better Search Replace” plugin to find and replace the old url in your database.

You’ll need to search for it, but it’s probably in the WP-Postmeta table.

If you haven’t used this plugin or method of changing things before, please be certain to make a backup of your database before making any changes.

It looks like you used a WordPress Social media block, so you need to go back to that block settings

thanks, unfortunately I don’t remember the old url, it was a YouTube channel of a previous mail account and I’m not even sure what it was called.

Does that mean the settings are somewhere outside the Weaver settings? I’ve been looking again but I can’t find it anywhere. I can get to the basic block where I can change order of the icons, delete on, put a new one, but it doesn’t allow me to insert a link.

I don’t know that block, when you edit the block, where do the icons come from?

What does the content of the block looks like

What is the exact name of the block you are using?

The items in question are in the Weaver Xtreme Header Widget Area.

The contents of that are are controlled under the WP Dashboard -> Appearance -> Widgets, then  the Header Widget section. After that, you need to used the standard WP selections to change whatever widget you added. It is possible that the particular widget is supported by some plugin or another.

Hi, Weaver Keymaster – it was not a plugin but a standard WordPress widget, called ‘social icons’. The widget allows you to pick some icons. It’s just strange that I couldn’t edit the link. However your remark made me look for a plugin to replace this with. I found ‘social icons widget and block’, and it allowed me to solve it in a few minutes. Thanks for the help!
