Differences between Weaver Xtreme Plus and Weaver II Pro?

I looked throught the forum but found only older threads and nothing really answered my questions:

1. Which are the main differences between weaver II Pro and weaver Xtreme Plus?
2. Is Xtreme Plus able to solve eventual mobile support problems when I use for example 4 divs with a background pic in a row and another 3 in the second row etc..

We are using Weaver II Pro since a long time but sometimes get in trouble when I enable the mobile support. I’m old-style and on some of the sites I use a lot of divs like I used to do before switching to wordpress.
So where I use divs to render 2-3 colums-like designs, where each column needs its own css styling  and background, the mobile support of weaver II doesn’t pick that up and gives a distorted view. I’ve tried scrambler’s “column” suggestions but doesn’t seem to be solved.

I’m considering buying a premium
plugin like WPtouch to get an easy solution for mobile themes. The price for the license I need is a bit more than the Xtreme Plus upgrade we would need, but the WP touch is a one-time payment.
But the price isn’t really the point here.
If weaver Xtreme Pro has substantially different and better options, especially for mobile, than Weaver II Pro + can solve the div flow problems we have now on mobile support, then there’s no question about it that we go for it.

Weaver Xtreme uses state-of-the-art techniques for rendering mobile views.

From what you describe using your custom <div>s, you are ending up with inherently non-responsive designs. It certainly is possible to write HTML code that will not work properly on a mobile device, no matter what theme or plugin you use. When using standard layout as generated by the WordPress content editor, Weaver Xtreme, and in fact, most modern WordPress themes, will give decent Mobile layouts. But if you want a site to look great on mobile devices, it is absolutely necessary to stop using old-time designs, and switch entirely to responsive designs that always use %’s instead of px for widths, and sometimes need extra @media rules to control column layout. It is just a fact of life with modern web design.

There is nothing in Weaver Xtreme Plus that changes how mobile sites are rendered – it will be the same for both.

It is very unlikely that any mobile theme will fix the issues you have. Rather than spending money on one, just try the mobile support included with JetPack.

It probably reflects completely how any alternative mobile theme like that works.

And, we really can’t offer any suggestions without a link to a site using your image div layout and Weaver Xtreme.

And yes Xtreme and its Plus plugin have some very nice advanced Custom layout feature. Any widget area can be composed of any number of rows, each row can have any number of widgets with different width. In addition you can specify a different layout for each device like desktop, small tablet and phones, so that the number of row, columns, width can be different on each device to best represent the content.

if you go to the demo site above, this feature is used on the header widget area, the footer widget area and some others, you can see the change in layouts as you shrink the browser.

Xtreme also has a new more efficient show_if  hide_if shortcode that takes many different parameters like page id numbers, or device types, and there are easy css classes for each device size.

By the way if you had a hard time doing it on weaver II (that requires custom CSS), you can just post with all the details, and we will help you fix it (it will work when the css is right 🙂 )

Thank you for the  quick replies (as always).

@ weaver: I always used the % for width but occasionaly I use fixed height, probably that’s a factor too.
Tried the free version of the plugin I mentioned and that seems to solve problems but you are right anyway, I should start to re-educate myself!  Just lack of time, really.
Maybe some of the plugins I use, like instabuilder for salespages, cause problems, too. Trying out their new plugin now.

@ scrambler: Thank you, your INDEX of CSS help files is fixed on my toolbar since you came up with these help files 🙂
I’ll do some reading first.
I’m also trying  out the free Xtreme on a test site. Believe it or not, with options so logically grouped now I’m a bit lost at first (!) but it looks like we best go for  Xtreme Plus unlimited in the near future. 
I suppose if I save per site all extra CSS etc.. from the <head> sections, to switch theme at live sites can’t be a big problem.
