Customizing format of blog post content area

Hi,

This information may be available, but I have not been able to find it. I am using a static front page instead of the blog page as my home page. Here is my blog page (“News”) http://www.newnationalparks.org/nnp-news/

Instead of the current format, I would like a format that is similar in format to the “News Items” posts on this site: http://www.maineenvironews.com/

So, using the example of the latest item entered on my “News” page, I would like to:

1. Copy and past the title from the original article, (i.e., “Harper Government Introduces Legislation to Protect High-Arctic Treasure on Bathurst Island” — I can obviously do this, now)

2. Link the title to the URL of the original article (i.e., http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/progs/np-pn/cnpn-cnnp/qausuittuq/ne/2015.aspx)

3. Specify the original source of the article (i.e., “Parks Canada”)

4. Enter the date of the original article, instead of having the current date automatically entered. (i.e., “Posted on June 16, 2015” instead of “Posted on July 2, 2015.”)

Can you tell me how to do this or direct me to information on how to do it?

1- I do not understand, paste the title where ?

2 &3- You cant change the link of a post title, WordPress automatically links to the single post page of that post

What you can do is Include the reference to the original article in your post content and make that link to it using regular html link. You can create such a link using the Post content editor tools, or you can type in the html (like below) using the text mode of the content editor.

One issue is that WordPress default Excerpts removes all HTML, so if you want the link to appear in your excerpt, You will need to use manual excerpts. If you do not see the manual excerpt box in your post editing page, you need to activate the options in the Screen options at the top.

4- You can change the default date of a post by changing it in the post editing page, but that would of course change the order of the post too.

Or you  can add the original post date in the link discussed above manually
