custom css and plugin question

So this is a super basic question.  My understanding is we don’t create a child theme because we are using the amazing Weaver Extreme Theme.  It really is amazing, but the learning curve is slowing me down.  :o)

If we alter the css for Woo commerce in the editor it will be deleted with every update.  I can’t even find out how to activate the Plugin editor options for Woo anyway, but still

I also think I understand that we can’t alter the css for a plugin in the custom css rules input area.

Where would we alter the css so that it wouldn’t be overwritten with updates?

This post helped me tons, because I needed to move the words up by the pictures, but I STILL have huge pictures so I need to go alter the css for the product page.  So confused.

First you should never edit theme files.

Any Custom CSS changes should be done in a place provided either by the theme or the plugin. I do not know woocomerce, so I cant tell you if they provide a place for Custom CSS in their plugin, this is a question you need to ask them.

Although it is always best to make custom CSS changes applying to a plugin using the plugin options, when this is not possible, you can use the theme Custom CSS rule box to put rules that will override the plugins CSS.

Because these rules will be in the Theme Custom CSS rule box, they will survive any update. The only issue with using the Theme Custom CSS to override a plugin rule, is that if the plugin changes the way they output their HTML, your rule may become invalid, and you may have to figure out what needs to be changed.

If you need to alter the styling of woocommerce and you have confirmed with them that their plugin does not offer a way to do that, be specific about what you want to change in the page of the provided link, and how you want to modify it.
