Hi,
I spent a lot of time adding captions to 70+ photos via Media Library (Double click on the image it pops up with fields to enter Caption, Title etc.) As there wasn’t a ‘Publish’ button, I used the arrow keys to move back and forth to see my entries were saved. Indeed the revised caption remained even though I used the arrow keys to advance a photo and returned.
Apparently NONE of this was saved. While editing photos in Weaver Slider Posts the Caption field was blank. Grrrrr Hopefully this isn’t a feature.
I thought metadata was metadata and was consistent no matter what photo editing software you used. I entered all of the Photo’s Caption information in Lightroom but it didn’t transfer to Weaver either.

If when you go to the media library and open the image, if the caption is there then it was saved.

Do you mean that if you click add media to insert an image in a slider post, the caption is not there?
In Weaver Slide Posts click on an image, an icon bar comes up, click on the pencil icon to edit. That’s what I’m doing now. Please tell me these will save. Where am I supposed to type in the photo’s caption so it will save? I’m on my 3rd time typing these captions in (Lightroom->Weaver Media -> now Weaver Slide Posts.
The Caption was not saved when I went from Media Library to Weaver Slide Posts.
I don’t know about adding captions from Lightroom as that is (I think) a program that runs on your computer. I would not think that captions added there to a .jpg file would transfer into WordPress, but they might.
The normal way to add captions to images is from the WordPress Media Library. You can add captions by editing the images from the WP Media menu.
That will normally reliably save captions, Alternative Text, and a Description, and even a title. Weaver Show Sliders supports all four of those items. The Alt Text support is automatic, and added as the Alt= value to the <img> tag. The other fields (Title, Caption, and Description) can be displayed or not by checking the appropriate checkbox in the “Slider Options” section of the Slider definition menu from the “Weaver Posts & Slider Options” menu. There are other options for how to display these items.
These are not per slide option, but a per slider definiton. All the slides in a given slider definition will display the title, caption, or description the same way.
But the Weaver Show Sliders does not touch, save, or delete any of the definitions of those items you may have set in the Media Library for each image. It just uses them if they are set and you’ve selected the option to display them in the slider.
You should try inserting some of the images in question into a regular page or post using the normal media insert button in the editor. There, the captions will be displayed with the image if they are defined in the media library.
