Hi – I just did an update after almost a year of no website updates. I
updated Weaver II and WordPress. I did read the upgrade article but I
didn’t see anything on a broken menu bar.
My menu bar is no longer a
bar (where the black is used to be a bar with each page) – its just a
list off to the right side on the top of pages.
    Can you please help me
    understand where/how to change?

A link to the site with specifics of where / what to look for would help….

Sorry I thought I had included it. http://www.inner-workcounseling.com

The menu is broken on every page because its the primary menu for the entire site. you will see it as soon as you go to the home page.

    Thank you!

It looks to me like ALL you CSS is missing…

    A few things to try.

Have you updated to the latest WordPress?

Did you download a backup of your settings before doing the updates? If so try restoring them.

Try deactivating ALL non weaver Plugin and see if that makes a difference.

Backup your settings, switch to a different theme, delete weaver II theme and plugin and reinstall them from scratch (all settings should automatically be back).

Something in your installation must be corrupted. Do you have a backup from before you did the updates?
May be @weaver will have other ideas on why all the theme CSS appears to be inactive suddenly in your site http://inner-workcounseling.com/

There is something strange as the page HTML shows
    <link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’weaverii-main-style-sheet-css’  href=’http://inner-workcounseling.com%20/wp-content/themes/weaver-ii/style.min.css?ver=2.2.3′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ />
    <link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’weaverii-mobile-style-sheet-css’  href=’http://inner-workcounseling.com%20/wp-content/themes/weaver-ii/style-mobile.min.css?ver=2.2.3′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ />
The %20 in the middle of the links does not look right. Not sure if this is the issue, and if it is what could cause that.

Not a recent one I have one from 2 years ago when I built the site – but that may work. Unfortunately, I did not do a back up right before the upgrade. I just did the upgrade. But I have a back up from right after the upgrade. It would seem that if I deleted the old theme and installed it would re-write the css….
I am tempted to load the old one from 2 yrs ago on another unused website of mine just to see how it looks. Thanks again really appreciate the help, as I am not experienced enough to fix this without it.

I would wait to see if @weaver has an idea on what could corrupt the loading of the CSS.
For the future, rule #1, backup BEFORE doing any changes

Thank you. Yes I wont make that mistake twice. I have another site that I set up a Cpanel forward/mask on 2 yrs ago – that I could back up and move files over to this one. Its phoenixsubstanceabuserecovery.com – I might do that depending on Weavers response.

I’ve been out for the day.

I would say that the extra %20 (which is HTML hex for a space) is absolutely involved in the issue. I don’t know where that value is being generated – perhaps in the dashboard : setting : general settings.

But if you can track that one down, it should solve all issues.

Hi Weaver – Great info, thank you. hope you enjoyed your day. Nothing found as far as that on the dashboard/setting/general setting. The URL is fine there. Any thoughts on how to do a search in other areas? Would the %20 be in the menu settings somewhere or is it specific to the url? Sorry if thats a dumb question.

The %20 is being inserted in the link to the style sheets.
Because of it, the links are invalid, and therefore the style sheets are not loaded.
The big question is what corrupted these links….
for good measure, go to settings > Permalinks and resave the permalinks.
Beyond that I would do the following.
    • Go to Save / Restore, and download a backup of ALL your settings.
    • Switch to a different theme
    • Delete Weaver themes and plugins completely
    • Go to Dashboard > Update and redo the latest WordPress install
    • Re install weaver Theme and plugins, all your settings should automatically be loaded

Tried those. No such luck yet. Will look at it again tomorrow. And will also donate to your preferred charity for your help Scrambler.

If doing all that did not change the problem, then something may be messed up on your host installation.
Restoring a Cpanel backup from before the problem, then proceeding one update at a time may be the solution
