ParticipantI have been using Blubrry Powerpress to feed my podcasts into my iTunes podcast channel from my website. The title of the podcast channel is being deleted from the html of the feed by Weaver II. I even upgraded to Weaver Extreme but the problem persisted so I reverted back to Weaver II rather than having to reformat my whole website. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what is the solution? Does anyone have a podcasting plugin installed that feeds properly from Weaver II onto iTunes?

ModeratorA link to the site and why you thing weaver II is deleting the HTML would help.
That said if indeed weaver II was involved, it is unlikely anything like that would get fixed in there, as the theme is now obsolete.
When / if you do decide to upgrade to Xtreme, there is a detailed conversion processed below to take care of things.

KeymasterIt it very hard to believe that either version of Weaver could be changing anything generated by a plugin. You would have to try a completely different theme such as Twenty Sixteen to see if the problem persists.

ParticipantI have tried a completely different theme in WP and the problem goes away. The problem persists with Weaver Xtreme. Blubrry technical support finally isolated the problem to the Weaver theme. Blubrry technical support have now had other complaints about the same issue from Weaver theme users.

ModeratorSo can they explain in detail what the problem is?
if indeed there is an incompatibility with the theme, they need to explain what it is for any chance of a solution…

ParticipantIn the podcast feed it looks like this: <title></title> without the podcast title showing. From Blubrry technical support: “I did some testing on your site and it looks like the Weaver II theme is the culprit. When I switched the site briefly to the default 2015 theme, the title on your podcast RSS feed returned. I’ve switched it back to Weaver II, and now the title has vanished again.”

in
Google Chrome. You should see the actual text source code of the feedAugust 25, 2016 at 04:08 UTC #30390scrambler
ModeratorThat is not helping at all.
They are the ones who know how their plugin work. If they are unwilling to diagnose how/why the theme and plugin have an incompatibility, there is not much hope for resolution.
Weaver is gone until the end of the week, in the mean time, I would press them for a more detailed diagnosisAugust 27, 2016 at 00:58 UTC - Views: 3 #30391Weaver
KeymasterWeaver (both versions) explicitly follow all WordPress rules dealing with a Page or Post title. They do absolutely nothing with feeds.
I looked at their code, and they have a line:
GLOBALS = $GLOBALS->next_post(); // Use this rather than the_post() that way we do not add additional queries to the database
This is “cheating”, and probably accounts for the problem. This code would likely break the custom loop processing Weaver does in several places, especially for Page with Posts or the [show_posts] plugin.

ParticipantShawn Thorpe <[email protected]> from PowerPress Blubrry tech support invites someone from Weaver to get in touch with the PowerPress dev team so they can troubleshoot
the problem directly.August 29, 2016 at 19:08 UTC - Views: 10 #30393Weaver
KeymasterUnfortunately, that “someone” would have to be me, and I simply don’t have the time to devote to working trying to figure out what a plugin has done wrong to make it break feeds when used with Weaver.
One of the main issues is having time to actually getting the plugin to be setup. They have a “simple” setup, but I can’t make heads or tails of it to even try to see what might be going on.
And I don’t really understand what the real issue is to begin with. Perhaps a clarification on that would help.
Briefly stated, I think that plugin lets you set up podcasts somehow as either regular posts, or perhaps a custom post type. I would suspect that you can then display those posts in some fashion on your site just like regular posts? How are you doing that? From the default blog page? Using a shortcode? Using a Weave Page with Posts? Using [show_posts]? Does that part work correctly?
The issue, as I understand it, comes when you try to look at the Feed of those posts using a browser. Is that right? Does the plugin setup a special feed address for that?
Or is there a more general problem displaying the posts with podcasts on your site? Or is it JUST the feed?
Since I don’t know anything about that plugin, I really need to know what is not working.
Because themes in general don’t have anything to do with feeds, it is somewhat difficult to even know where to begin on tracking down the incompatibility.
