ALT tag for Header image

I am wondering if there is anyway to add the alt tag to the header image via the Customizer option?  Even though the image I choose as my Header Media Image has an ALT tag it doesn’t pull in when I use the Customizer.

I know I can input my header image with an ALT tag using Xtreme’s Header Image Replacement HTML (★Plus).

I have been slowly trying to make the websites I manage more ADA compliant and this is an ongoing issue that drives me crazy.  I currently am working on 2sticky.com and have been adding the header image for each page in the Header Image Replacement HTML (★Plus) but I was just wondering if there is an easier option?

I doubt you can alter HTML with the options, but @weaver may know more

Try this:

Via the Media Library:

1. In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Media → Library.
2. Click on the header image you want to edit.
3. In the “Attachment details” window, find the Alternative Text field on the right side.
4. Enter your descriptive text and the changes are typically saved automatically.

This does mean using a header image uploaded to the media library, and not directly uploaded in the header image dialog which allows both selecting your header image from the library, or uploading directly.

This should work for any image in the media library, so it would also work for any other images on your site.

Note: I added Alt info for the header image on this site, and it seemed to work. I did everything from the Cutomizer. But I had to be sure the header image was in the media library and that version was being used.
