ParticipantI had the Ajax Comment Preview plugin at an old site and it worked very well. But when I installed and activated it on my new site with the Weaver XTreme theme, it didn’t work. There was a “preview” tab to click on, but it returned an error message. Any suggestions? Thanks.

KeymasterI cannot find any plugin called Ajax Comment Preview.
If it doesn’t show in the WP Plugin search, it is probably very old, and thus probably is no longer 100% compatible with the latest version of plugins and themes.

ParticipantI found the plugin. It was last updated 6 years ago. A plugin not updated for 6 years is vulnerable to malware intrusion.

ParticipantThanks. Yes, it an an older plugin and I assume that’s a big part of the problem. However, I currently have it on a different WordPress site and it’s working perfectly. That’s why I thought there might be some way to make it work on the new one (they are the same WordPress version). And I can’t find a newer Comment Preview plugin that works. Do you know of a way to get a comment preview function?

KeymasterI’m not even sure what a Comment Preview plugin would do? What is it supposed to do?
There can be serious issues with old plugins when changing servers. In particular, many older plugins are NOT PHP 7 compatible, and will simply not work. These days, especially on newly set up servers, PHP 7 has become essentially standard. Older plugins, and even themes, commonly have PHP 7 issues, but work fine on PHP 5.

ParticipantI am using the same host that I use on my old site where the preview plugin works fine. I assume the server is the same, too, but I don’t know much about that. “Ajax Comment Preview” has been a useful plugin that allows commenters to preview their comments before submitting them for others to see. For example, if they’ve put links in the comments, they can see if the links work well and/or check for other errors.
