For many years, I have used and recommended SiteGround for web hosting. It was reasonably priced, provided robust performance, was easy to set up for WordPress, and had good tech support. This has all changed in the past year or so. Other than still being easy to setup a WordPress site, I don’t find any of those other feature to be true.
I cannot recommend using SiteGround at this point. The latest fiasco is how they handle mail. Having a dedicated mail server for your own website is usually pretty important. But SiteGround has added “features” that have, in my opinion, totally messed up how they support email. Mostly it involves how they’ve chosen to add some very bad junk and ad filtering. If you are using SiteGround’s mail servers, they’ve made it quite difficult to be sure you are actually seeing all of your e-mail. And they refuse to fix it, or even tell you what is going on.
They’ve made it quite difficult to get to human support – a feature that once was on the their best attributes.
I am still investigating to be able to provide recommendations for an alternative, but for now, none yet.
By far the best hosting site I’ve found so far is ICDSoft which I have used for over 15 years without any issues. Might be something to investigate if you’re still looking for an alternative …

Surprisingly inexpensive for tbe basic WordPress package I thought.
